CFA & TICA?

The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA) are the two major cat registry organizations that celebrate and recognize excellence in pedigreed cats.  CFA is best known across the U.S. for its traditional show format and long history, while TICA has a strong global presence with a points-based system and shows held all around the world.  Both honor cats that embody the very best of their breed.

Why show in TICA & CFA?

TICA and CFA each recognize excellence in their own unique ways.

In TICA (The International Cat Association), cats earn titles and regional or international rankings by accumulating points from multiple judges across many shows. Judges evaluate cats on color, breed standard, condition, and how they compare to the competition in both breed and all-breed finals. As cats continue to earn points, they advance through a series of titles: Champion, Grand Champion, Double Grand Champion, Triple Grand Champion, Quadruple Grand Champion, and the prestigious Supreme Grand Champion.

CFA (The Cat Fanciers' Association) uses a different system. Cats earn Grand points only from qualifying wins and finals, making each achievement especially meaningful. While the path to titles differs from TICA, both organizations reward outstanding quality, excellent condition, and adherence to the Maine Coon breed standard.

Although their scoring systems are different, both TICA and CFA represent the highest standards in the pedigreed cat fancy, and earning titles in either organization is a significant accomplishment.

We proudly show our cats in both CFA and TICA because each organization celebrates the best of the breed.  Competing in both allows our cats to be judged by top experts, earn prestigious titles, and continue proving that Treska Maine Coons meet - and exceed - the highest standards of excellence.  

Wonder what judges are looking for? The official breed standards describe the ideal Maine Coon, from overall balance and body structure to head shape, ear placement, eye shape, coat texture, tail, and temperament. These standards are the blueprint judges use when evaluating cats in the show ring.

Overall balance and proportion are essential, and no one feature should dominate the appearance of the cat.
